Peace and abundant grace be multiplied unto you all your days.
I read through the brochure you gave to me today in the midst of trying to
rest as well as seeking the way forward after the conference. What a
diligent and excellent work!
The understanding I received is that Freedom Exhibition is a prophetic
spiritual warfare against the spirit of slavery and human trafficking.
Jesus was sold for 30 pieces of silver, the redemptive price for a slave. We
need to declare this truth regularly for God to break the chains and
shackles of human trafficking.

I am involved with human trafficking as a member of STOP that I am 'used to' (not that you ever can get used to it!) the topic. Secondly I am an artist myself, so I enjoy art and it’s not a new medium of communication to me. I did not know that such an exhibition would have excited me so much and I was so blessed to be part of it!
Although I am an artist who works with oil paintings, for me personally the sculpture about the face stood out above the rest of the art pieces.
The face was not just any random face, but a person, somebody special, somebody unique, somebody's sister, daughter, friend. Somebody God made for a purpose.
The face was looking upwards, maybe sitting, staring into nothingness because there seems to be no escape. Maybe laying down, thinking 'what next, who next' nothing matters anymore. Maybe standing up, face towards the heavenlies, praying and asking God for help - surely somebody out there will come!
The facial features seems to indicate no sound from the lips anymore, no tears from the eyes anymore - the only really functional part is the nose; breathing in, breathing out. What's left?
It indeed, is a weathered face - many stories to tell. Is there someone who will listen - really stop and listen?
Trushka Badenhorst, Board Member of STOP, Cape Town.

I thought that the freedom exhibition and gala evening, was a wonderful way of letting people know about human trafficking and the need for safe houses, missing people and the extraordinary people who work at either finding them, networking or giving up their time to work for these wonderful causes. The statistics were mind-blowing and just listening to some of the victims stories made me want to cry and made my hair stand on end! One cannot begin to imagine what these people have gone through and many don’t come through an ordeal like this and survive.
More people need to be made aware of the horrific things happening around us! I applaud the artists that have so freely given of their time, themselves and their paintings to be sold for such a worthy cause.

The Freedom Exhibition impacted me deeply. The gala evening was thoroughly enjoyable and seeing so many people arrive to support such a worthy cause was a blessing indeed. For me, the artworks were the most profound and impactful reality of the evening. Each artist responded to the topic in such a unique way and from such a deep place. What a blessing!
Idalette Muller’s piece depicting the Freedom Climb of Kilimanjaro really ministered to me. Not only about trafficking but about the freedom that Christ needs to bring to each beautiful woman that God created. I have worked with abused women as a counsellor, and could relate to this piece so deeply. Elizabeth Kahlau – Olivier’s piece Winds of Change, was strangely enough another dynamic piece for me and it was also related to the Freedom Kilimanjaro Climb. I think it is a powerful witness and move in time, that artists have gathered together to make their voices heard in unison against things that break Gods heart such as human trafficking. My life has been deeply impacted by the exhibition, thank you!

I helped with organizing the Freedom Exhibition in Stellenbosch and for me the most astounding part was to gain insight and have a glimpse on the amazing things people do! People in parliament, STOP and its people, the police, people who run safe houses, curators, artists, writers, fundraisers, people with connections, photographers, ordinary men and woman… working together to make a difference!
I have never before in my life experienced such a sense of community.“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”
I just knew that no one but God could have put this together!
Michelle - Lize Van Wyk, Cape Town.

Dear Freedom Exhibition Team, A heartfelt thanks from STOP's side for the week of trafficking awareness and the excellent exhibition that you held in Stellenbosch 4-9 August. The standard you upheld was of such that we were proud to be part of it. The presentations and representations were of a level that I would proudly participate should you invite us again. The paintings depicted the many facets of human trafficking bringing the horror of it home to everyone present. The standard of the paintings were absolutely excellent - a truly South African product to be very proud of. May we see this exhibition moving all around SA in the major cities and towns and abroad as we send the message out here that our sons and daughters are not for sale and the the scrounge of human trafficking has to be stopped. What I really appreciated, was the workshops that you held for the police and artists interested in art therapy. The woman's day celebration ..a highlight.. brought hope and healing to all present. Thank you once again .. I am looking forward to the next opportunity to work with you doing the amazing work you are doing.
Kind regards
Corinne Sandenbergh, Director STOP Stellenbosch.
